Softball lose Friday twin bill against Colorado Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 24, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team lost a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games against Colorado Christian, falling 10-2 (6 inn.) in game one and losing the nightcap 9-1 on Friday at Rawlings Sports Complex.

The ThunderWolves were led offensively by Caitlyn Cole (Fr., Merced, Calif.) with three hits all came in the first game and Darleen Falcon (Fr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) chipped in with two hits in game two.

In the series opener, CCU scored eight runs in the first two innings. The Cougars tallied five runs against Pack starting pitcher Lucy Carney (So., Lakewood, Colo.) in the first inning before Marika Spector (Jr., Wimberely, Tex.) came on in relief with one out in the first.

The Pack scored their only runs of the game during the second inning after the first two batters reached safely and Marissa Robertson (Fr., Rocklin, Calif.) belted a two-run double down the left field line to get the ThunderWolves on the board.

The Cougars added single runs in the third and sixth inning before CCU pitcher Kali Crandall retired the side in the bottom of the sixth to seal the 8-run rule victory.

Carney drops to 3-2 on the year.

In game two, the ThunderWolves started behind after the top of the first inning when CCU scored a run for an early 1-0 lead.

The Pack got on the board during the second inning on a sac fly out by Falcon.

CCU scored eight runs over the last three innings to come away with the 9-1 victory.

Starting in the circle, Jacelynn Trujillo (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) falls to 1-3 on the season.

CSU Pueblo (6-7, 1-5 RMAC) will wrap the series with another doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Rawlings Sports Complex.
