Women's Basketball Falls to Union in D2CCA Tip-Off Classic Finale

Lubbock, Texas (November 4, 2023) – The CSU Pueblo women's basketball team found themselves back in action at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic this evening as in their second game of the season they were defeated by Union University by a score of 108-70. Union University, who came into the weekend as the #17 ranked team in the preseason polls, showed why they are regarded as one of the top teams in the nation as they defeated the Pack by 38 points.

The Pack, who were defeated in their season opener by #12 Azusa Pacific, were once again up against a challenge with the Bulldogs of Union University as both teams were regional semifinalists this last season.

Once again leading the Pack offensively was forward Alisha Davis-Little (R-Jr., Aurora, Colo.) who collected 20 points on the day with eight rebounds added.

Other top performers for the ThunderWolves include the duo of Tomia Johnson (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo./Florida Gulf Coast) and Autumn Watts (R-Jr., Centennial, Colo./McNeese State) with Johnson and Watts both collecting 11 points apiece.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Shanique Lucas with 20 points and Emma Kallas with 17 points off the bench.

Within the game, Union University led the entire time after they broke the 3-3 tie in the first quarter and after that, they never looked back. On the day they led as high as 42 points.

After the first quarter, the Bulldogs led by 16 points and the only real offense the Pack had going in the first half was Davis-Little's 15 points that she collected by halftime.

The Bulldogs continued their rampage in the second half as the Pack could never crawl back from the deficit.
