Pack Volleyball Has Five All-RMAC Selections; Van Veen and Harrington Earn First-Team Nods

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo put five players on one of the three All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Teams, including two first team selections, that were announced by the league office on Wednesday.
 
Leading the First-Team All-RMAC honorees for Pack were redshirt sophomore outside hitter Payton Van Veen (Springfield, Mo./Washburn University) and sophomore opposite side hitter Kendall Harrington (San Antonio, Texas/Tom C. Clark).
 
In addition to Van Veen and Harrington, sophomore outside hitter Sadie Scoville (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove) was named a Second-Team All-RMAC selection, while redshirt sophomore middle blocker Golden Finch (Albuquerque, N.M./Cal State Bakersfield) and freshman libero Maddox Richtmyre (Surprise, Ariz./Willow Canyon) were Honorable Mention All-RMAC selections.
 
Van Veen, who was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year last season, repeats as a First-Team selection, while Scoville is a Second-Team selection this season after being an Honorable Mention honoree last season.
 
The Pack has now had multiple first team All-RMAC selections for the second straight season.
 
Van Veen earns her First-Team All-RMAC selection after leading the Pack during the regular season in both kills (314) and kills per set (3.20) and was third in blocks with 60 and fifth in service aces with 20 and hit .294. Van Veen, who was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16, had double-digit kill matches in 19 of the Pack's 28 matches and ended the regular season with double-digit kills in nine of her last 10 matches. In RMAC play, she recorded 157 kills, averaged 2.96 kills per set and tallied 51 digs, 33 blocks and 13 aces.
 
Harrington earns her First-Team All-RMAC accolade after being third on the team in kills (278) and kills per set (2.96) during the regular season. In addition, she recorded 34 blocks and hit .313 on the season. Harrington ended the regular season with 10 consecutive double-digit kills matches and recorded 16 double-digit matches. In RMAC play, she led the Pack with 170 kills and averaged 3.15 kills per set and had 22 blocks, 18 digs and hit .305.
 
Scoville moves up to the All-RMAC Second Team this season as she was second on the team in the regular season with 279 kills and averaged 2.82 kills per set and led the team in digs (303), digs per set (3.06) and is second in aces with 36, fourth in blocks with 45 and hit .254. Additionally, she led the team with 12 double-doubles and posted 17 double-digit kills matches. In RMAC play, she had 162 kills and averaged 3.00 kills, 3.31 digs and 0.52 blocks and 0.33 aces per set.
 
Finch earns Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors after recording a team-best 78 blocks and averaged 0.91 blocks per set and hit .348, while also adding 78 kills, 12 digs and four assists. She had five or more blocks in a match eight times, including a high of 10 blocks at Black Hills State. In RMAC play, Finch had 48 blocks, averaged 0.91 blocks per set and hit .500 with 58 kills, four assists and eight digs.
 
Richtmyre earns Honorable Mention status as a freshman after being second in digs with 292 and averaged 3.28 digs per game and added 27 aces and 85 assists. She tallied 15 matches with 10 or more digs, including a high of 26 digs in a five-set match at Fort Lewis and tallied a double-double of 10 assists and 20 digs against Ouachita Baptist. In RMAC play, Richtmyre, who was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23, had 215 digs and averaged 3.98 digs per set and tallied 62 assists and 19 aces.
 
Along with announcing the three All-RMAC Teams, the league also named the recipients of its individual award winners as Colorado Mesa junior outside hitter Sydney Leffler was named the RMAC Player of the Year, while Colorado Mesa sophomore libero Allison Waller was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Colorado Mesa redshirt junior setter Sabrina VanDeList was named the RMAC Setter of the Week. In addition, South Dakota Mines freshman outside hitter Ivy Vindivich was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year and MSU Denver's Jenny Glenn took home RMAC Coach of the Year after leading the Roadrunners to its third straight RMAC regular season championship and a No. 7 ranking in the latest AVCA/Taraflex Division II Coaches' Poll.
 
Van Veen, Harrington, Leffler, Waller, and VanDeList are joined on the All-RMAC First-Team by Colorado Mesa redshirt senior middle hitter Savannah Spitzer, MSU Denver junior outside hitter Riley Anderson, MSU Denver senior middle blocker Ember Canty, MSU Denver senior outside hitter Rylee Hladky, Regis graduate student middle blocker Nadine Burbrink, Regis junior middle blocker Amelia Davis, Regis senior libero Haley Kennedy, senior setter Mara LeGrand and graduate student right side hitter Klaudia Sowizral.
 
Scoville and Vindivich are joined on the All-RMAC Second-Team by Chadron State sophomore middle hitter Bella Adams, Colorado Christian senior outside hitter Libby Goodman, sophomore middle hitter Renee Phillips, Colorado Mesa graduate student right side hitter Emma Shaddix, Colorado School of Mines senior outside hitter Rose Stuewe, Fort Lewis sophomore middle blocker Ella Butler, Fort Lewis junior outside hitter Alexis Hobie, MSU Denver senior middle blocker Mikayla McClinton, MSU Denver junior libero Abbie McCrimmon, MSU Denver junior right side hitter Maddy Williams, South Dakota Mines sophomore libero Hannah Benes and South Dakota junior opposite side hitter Alessandra Meoni.
 
Finch and Richtmyre were joined on the All-RMAC Honorable Mention by Adams State's Cindy Garcia, Adams State's Natalie Gallegos, Adams State's Anna Huggins, Black Hills State's Abigail Renner, Black Hills State's Haedyn Rhoades, Chadron State's Mayson Fago, Chadron State's Alondra Hernandez, Colorado Christian's Izzy Jones, Colorado Mesa's Riley Daughtery, Colorado School of Mines' Presley Powell, Fort Lewis' Natalia Lambos, MSU Denver's Delaney Eckhardt, MSU Denver's Amela Quershia, Regis' Halle Theis, South Dakota Mines' Kiley Metzger, UCCS's Nicole Medlin, Western Colorado's Maggie Olson, Western Colorado's Seyun Park, Westminster's Mailie Myers and Westminster's Olivia Curtis.
 
The Pack finished the 2023 season with a 13-14 overall record and tied for fourth in the RMAC with a 10-4 league mark. The ThunderWolves' earned the No. 5 seed in the RMAC Tournament where they fell in five hard-fought sets on Tuesday night in Rapid City, S.D., to No. 4 seeded South Dakota Mines.
