AMARILLO, Texas – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf team closed out play here Tuesday in the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational by shooting a 945 as a team for 54 holes to finish in 14th place out of 15 teams at the event held at Tascosa Country Club.
At the event hosted by West Texas A&M, the ThunderWolves fired rounds of 301, 321 and 323 respectively to finish in 14th place. The Pack entered Tuesday's final round sitting a tie for 10th after shooting a 622 through 36 holes.
West Texas A&M claimed the team title at its own event as they fired a 32-over par 884 as a team to win by nine shots over runner-up Midwestern State, who carded an 893 as a team. Odessa College was third with an 896 and Oklahoma Christian was fourth with a 904 for 36 holes.
Leading the way for the Pack was senior
Kylie Severin (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep), who carded a 13-over par 226 to finish in a tie for 16th place overall. Severin opened the tournament with a 75, before shooting a 77 in the second round and firing a final round score of 2-over par 74. Severin was tied for fourth among the field in par-5 scoring as she averaged 4.56 (4-under par) on the course's par-5 holes and recorded eight birdies and an eagle on her 54-hole scorecard.
Midwestern State's Alli Reily took home individual medalist honors as she carded a three-round total score of one-under par 212 to win by three shots over UT-Tyler's Martha Laremark and West Texas A&M's Gam Songprasert, who each fired 2-over scores of 215 for 54 holes.
In addition to Severin, freshman
Lisa Ekberg (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Aranäsgymnasiet) was the next finisher for the Pack as she carded a 54-hole total of 232 to finish in a tie for 38th place. Ekberg recorded rounds of 70, 81 and 81.
Junior Zoey Rodriquez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo South) fired a 54-hole total score of 243 to finish in a tie for 64th place. Rodriguez opened with a 77, before carding an 80 in the second round and an 86 in the final round.
The fourth and final counter for the Pack at the event was junior
Anju Ogi (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West), who fired 54-hole total of 244 to finish in a tie for 67th. Ogi fired rounds of 79, 83 and 82 respectively.
CSU Pueblo's fifth golfer at the event sophomore
Freya Constable (Edinburgh, Scotland/Boroughmuir) as she shot a 54-hole total of 266 to finish in 87th place. Constable shot rounds of 88, 91 and 87.
The Pack will look to rebound as they return to the course next week (Oct. 9-10) as they host its annual Sam Proal Invitational held at the Pueblo Country Club.
