ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 26, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team won its second match in a row after posting a 1-0 shutout win on the road at Adams State on Thursday.
Cortney Cowles (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored her sixth goal of the season in the 64th minute to give the Pack a 1-0 lead.
In the match, CSU Pueblo controlled the ball for most of the game, firing ten shots and three landing on frame.Â
Cowles finished with a team-high three shots and
Shelby Ransom (Sr., Lakewood, Colo.) made two shots for the Pack.
Through the first half, both teams went into the locker room scoreless with the ThunderWolves creating several chances at the net.
Starting the second period, the ThunderWolves kept pressuring the Grizzlies at midfield and caused turnovers which resulted in seven shots in the second half for CSU Pueblo.
In the 64th minute and following a Pack throw-in, ASU was called for a handball right outside the box and was awarded a free kick.
Cowles stepped up and took the kick and sent a ball centered into the net and past the diving goalkeeper for the one score lead.
Over the final twenty minutes, CSU Pueblo's defense and play at midfield did well in keeping the Grizzlies away from any scoring threat.

Nicole Genis (Sr,. San Jose, Costa Rica) made two saves against six shots from the Grizzlies.
CSU Pueblo (6-3-6, 4-2-4 RMAC) stays on the road for a match Sunday at New Mexico Highlands. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Las Vegas, N.M.
