COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's swimming and diving team sits in fourth place out of six teams after two days of the Colorado College Classic being held here at Schlessman Natorium.
CSU Pueblo has scored 196 points to sit in fourth place as they are 25 points behind third-place University of Colorado-Boulder (221 points) and 72 points in front of fifth place McMurry University (124 points). Western Colorado leads the six-team event with 570 points, while host school, Colorado College is second with 552 points.
The ThunderWolves' had five Top 5 finishes, including a fifth-place finish in the 400 medley relay during Saturday's second day of competition that included preliminaries in the morning and finals in the late afternoon.
CSU Pueblo got Saturday's finals started with a fifth place finish in the 100 freestyle A Final from freshman
Aleksandra Dutkowiak (Wroclaw, Poland/SMS Wroclaw), who posted a finals time of 56.64. In the prelims, she recorded the sixth fastest time of 56.47. In the B Final of the same event, freshman
Carla Sanchez Guareno (Barcelona, Spain/Institut de L'Arboc) was 10th with a finals time of 56.95, after swimming a 57.62 in the prelims.
In the next event, which was the 200 buttefly, sophomore Nalami Wess was third in the A Final with a time of 2:27.27 after recording a prelim time of 2:27.59.

McKenna Hauber (Gillette, Wyo./Campbell County) gave the Pack a second place finish in the 400 IM as she recorded an A Final time of 4:59.98 after having the second fastest prelim time of 4:57.62. In addition to Hauber, senior
Kristen Wolf (Topeka, Kan./Washburn Rural) was sixth in the 400 IM with an A Final time of 5:12.31 after recording a time of 5:08.58 in the prelims.
The Pack would finish third and eighth respectively in the next event – the 100 backstroke. In the event, Sanchez Guareno was third with an A Final time of 1:01.82 after recording a prelim time of 1:01.91, while Dutkowiak was eighth with an A Final time of 1:06.00 after tallying a 1:05.02 in the prelims.
Wolf and Hauber each qualified into the finals in the 100 breaststroke as Wolf was sixth in the A Final of the event with a time of 1:12.82 after swimming a 1:12.92 in the the prelims, while Hauber was 11th in the B Final with a finals time of 1:16.38 after recording a 1:16.06 in the prelims.
The only event that CSU Pueblo didn't qualify a swimmer for the finals was in the 200 freestyle as the top finisher for the Pack in the prelims was sophomore
Markina Evdokimoff (Yucca Valley, Calif./Yucca Valley) as she recorded a time of 2:13.18 to finish 20th overall. She needed at least a time of 2:11.61 to qualify for the finals.
In the 400 medley relay, the Pack finished fifth with a time of 3:55.14, while finishing seventh in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:55.14. The members of the fifth place 400 medley relay were Sanchez Guareno, Wolf, Wess and Dutkowiak, while the members of the 400 freestyle relay were Dutkowiak, Hauber, Evdokimoff and Sanchez Guareno.
The Colorado College Classic concludes action on Sunday, Jan. 22 with the preliminary race beginning at 9 a.m., and the finals are scheduled for 4 p.m.
