PUEBLO, Colo. (August 28, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team dropped its second match of the weekend, falling 3-1 against No. 25 Angelo State on Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Senior midfielder
Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored the first goal of the season for the ThunderWolves in the 87th minute.
In the match, CSU Pueblo totaled seven shots and earned four corner kicks.
Meredith finish tied with a game-high three shots including the one goal.
Angelo scored the first goal in the game during the 14th minute and would add another goal shortly before halftime for a 2-0 lead at the break.
Starting the second half, CSU Pueblo managed to keep possession in ASU territory and were able to put the defense on their heels with a couple of shots that sailed wide of the net.
Angelo built a 3-0 lead in the 68th minute before Meredith was able to convert off a corner kick sent in by
Jacquelyn Kosegarten (Jr., Puebla, Mexico) to get the ThunderWolves on the board.
In the net,
Nicole Genis (Jr., San Jose, Costa Rica) made three saves.
CSU Pueblo (0-2) will stay home next week for two more nonconference matches. Friday, the Pack host University of Bridgeport for the first time starting at 6 p.m. and Sunday, St. Edward's comes to town for an 11 a.m. matchup. Both games at Gonzales Stadium.
