PUEBLO, Colo. (August 25, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision in the season opener against Eastern New Mexico, Thursday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
In the match, CSU Pueblo finished ahead in shots 13-5 and the offensive was active throughout the match, earning seven corner kicks against zero for ENMU.
The lone goal in the match came in the 18th minute when the Greyhounds offense was able to get the ball past the ThunderWolves' back line and the ENMU player was able to nudge the ball in to the lower third of the net for the one goal lead.
CSU Pueblo's offense created three corner kick chances in the first half and kept the energy top level in forcing ENMU to step up on defense.
At halftime, the Pack held a 5-3 lead in shots.
Starting the second half, CSU Pueblo put fresh legs onto the pitch and the offense was able to keep possession on ENMU side of the field.
A flurry of shots from the Pack midway through the period gave the offense a bit of a spark. The ThunderWolves managed eight shots in the half and finished with seven shots on goal.

Nicole Genis (Jr., San Jose, Costa Rica) made four saves.
CSU Pueblo (0-1) is back in action Sunday when they welcome No. 25 Angelo State to Gonzales Stadium. Kickoff is slated for noon.
