HAYS, Kan. (August 25, 2022) - No. 23 Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer dropped a tough season opening match 2-1 at No. 7 Fort Hays State, Thursday at FHSU Soccer Stadium.
For the Pack,
Caio Oliveira (Jr., Espigao D'Oeste, Brazil) netted his first goal of his Pack career during the 52' after receiving a ball from
Reggie Nicolas (Jr., Palm Bay, Fla.) for a one goal lead.
In the match, CSU Pueblo recorded 13 shots against six by FHSU. The Pack also earned two corner kick chances.
Gabriel Campora (Jr., Saltilla, Mexico) led all players with five shots in the game.
In his Pack debut,
Nils Roth (Jr., Thun, Switzerland) gave up two goals and made two saves against six shots by the Tigers.
Holding the 1-0 lead with twenty minutes left, FHSU scored the tying goal in the 71st minute.
With just over three minutes left in the game, a penalty was called against CSU Pueblo and FHSU was awarded a PK and was successful on the attempt.
CSU Pueblo (0-1) will finish the weekend at Newman in Wichita, Kan. Kickoff is set for noon Saturday.
