DENVER, Colo. (April 9, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games at Regis despite hitting three homeruns in the two games on Saturday at Regis Softball Field.
CSU Pueblo lost the series opener 10-2 (6 inn.) and in the nightcap, Regis scored a 9-5 win.
Hannah Hackney (Sr., Erie, Colo.),
Katelynn Ralston (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and
Jill Bishop (Jr., Brighton, Colo.) all homered and
Isabel Griego (Sr., Loveland, Colo.) went 3-for-6 at the plate for the ThunderWolves.
In the series opener, the Pack totaled four hits and scored both runs in the sixth inning after trailing 5-0 going into the inning. Hackney hit her team leading eighth homer of the year with one out and later in the frame,
Delaney Barela (So., Pueblo, Colo.) was hit by the pitch and would come around to score on a defensive error.
Starting in the circle,
Sophia Lishner (So., Gilbert, Ariz.) lasted 5.0 innings and allowed 10 runs, seven earned and she finished with three strikeouts and walked six.
In relief,
Jacelynn Trujillo (So., Pueblo, Colo.) faced three batters.
In the nightcap, the ThunderWolves got on the board first when three runs crossed in the third inning. Hackney grounded out on the infield, bringing in Griego from third base. In the next at bat, Ralston stepped up and crushed a two-run shot to right center to put the Pack ahead 3-0.
Regis took their first lead in the fifth after scoring four runs on three hits.
The Pack regained the lead in their next at bat when Bishop stepped to the plate and hit a 2-run blast to left center and get the Pack on top, 5-4. It is Bishop's first homerun of her Pack career.
In the circle, Ralston battled throughout the game and gave up nine runs including a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning. Ralston finished with seven walks and two strikeouts.
CSU Pueblo (14-17, 10-16 RMAC) will finish the series with another doubleheader scheduled Sunday at 11 a.m. at Regis Softball Field.
