ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 30, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team dominated their way to a 15-7 win over Adams State on the road on Saturday afternoon to finish the season 3-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.
The ThunderWolves asserted their dominance early in the game by outscoring the Grizzlies 5-1 in the opening quarter. Back-to-back goals from
Boston Dumas (Sr., Ogden, Utah) and
Aryan Krause (So., Aurora, Colo.) gave the Pack an early 2-0 lead just five minutes into the game before Adams State managed their lone goal of the quarter.
The Pack answered with three goals in two minutes to take total control of the game with 3:22 left in the first quarter. Two more goals from Krause and a goal from
Trevor Thompson (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) gave the Pack a commanding 5-1 leading heading into the second.
Two goals from both teams made it 7-3 ThunderWolves before a 3-0 run gave the Pack a 10-3 advantage. Two goals from
Logan Naves (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and a goal from Thompson highlighted the run for the ThunderWolves heading in to halftime.
The ThunderWolves carried the momentum into the second half, notching two quick goals from Krause and Naves. Another ASU goal stopped the bleeding but the Pack took the life from the Grizzlies with another 3-0 run to take a 15-4 lead after three quarters.
The ThunderWolves held on to a 15-7 victory over the Grizzlies to finish the season in third place in RMAC standings.
Krause and
Cameron Hancock (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) tallied four goals and an assist apiece for the ThunderWolves with Naves adding three goals of his own.
Tyler Gardner (So., Erie, Colo.) led the Pack with six goals while going 11 of 26 from face-offs.
The ThunderWolves look ahead to the conference tournament which will take place on May 6th, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Pack finished third in league play and will play Colorado Mesa in the semifinal game. A time for the game will be announced later in the week.
