SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. (May 6, 2022) – The third-seeded Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team were unable to rally to victory against the second-seeded Colorado Mesa, dropping the RMAC semifinals game, 17-10.
The Pack had four players score two goals each in
Logan Naves (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.),
Aryan Krause (So., Aurora, Colo.),
Cameron Hancock (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.), and
Dylan Johnson (Fr., Simi Valley, Calif.). Colorado Mesa double the shot attempts compared to the ThunderWolves at 63-33 with CSU Pueblo managing 15 of those shots on goal.
A slow first quarter saw the Mavericks hold a 4-2 lead after the first quarter before the ThunderWolves started to make a run. Naves made it 5-3 Mavericks just one minute into the second quarter before Hancock again cut into the lead with his first goal of the game.
Another CMU goal gave the Mavericks breathing room before three unanswered goals from the Pack put the Mavericks on their heels. Hancock scored with 12 seconds left in the half to give the Pack a 7-6 advantage going into the break.
CMU came out of the break on fire after going on a 7-0 run to take a 13-7 lead.
Brett Woolcock (Fr., Humble, Texas) managed the lone goal of the quarter for the Pack to make it 13-8 Mavericks after three.
The Mavericks held the ThunderWolves to two goals while scoring four of their own to advance in the RMAC tournament championship game with a 17-10 victory.
The ThunderWolves finish the 2022 season with a 3-9 overall record and went 2-4 with two wins over Adams State during league play.
