PUEBLO, Colo. (April 2, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team took to the field for the first time on their home turf this season where the team walked away with a dominating 18-5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over Adams State.
The ThunderWolves didn't hold back from the jump as
Logan Naves (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored the first goal of the game within the first minute of play. A crafty
Aryan Krause (So., Aurora, Colo.) quickly made it 2-0 ThunderWolves at the 13:15 mark before the Grizzlies got on the board to make it 2-1.
Cameron Hancock (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) sparked a 5-0 run for the Pack as Naves gave the ThunderWolves a 7-1 lead with 6:13 left in the first quarter. The Grizzlies finally answered with a goal of their own before
Dylan Johnson (Fr., Simi Valley, Calif.) scored the eighth goal of the quarter for the Pack to the them an 8-2 lead after the first quarter.
The Pack dominated the second quarter by holding the Grizzlies scoreless for fifteen minutes of play. The ThunderWolves tallied wo goals from Naves and one from Krause to take an 11-2 lead at half.
The ThunderWolves carried the momentum into the third quarter, again holding the Grizzlies scoreless for the first eleven minutes into the half.
Boston Dumas (Sr., Ogden, Utah),
Ian Noonan (Jr., Wilmington, Del.), and Krause each scored a goal for the Pack during the run before Krause ended the quarter with his sixth goal of the afternoon to give the Pack a commanding 15-3 lead going into the final quarter.
Goals from Hancock,
Trevor Thompson (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.), and Johnson gave the Pack their biggest lead of the game at 18-3 before as the ThunderWolves rode out an 18-5 win over Adams State. The win marks the programs largest margin of victory over the Grizzlies.
Krause dominated offensively for the Pack registering six goals and seven assists off nine shots and four ground balls. Naves ended with four goals off ten shots while Hancock, Johnson, and Dumas each scored two goals for the ThunderWolves.
Ethan Ferrie (Jr., Littleton, Colo.) allowed three goals while registering 13 saves on the afternoon after facing a total of 33 Grizzly shots.
The ThunderWolves will be back in action next weekend as the team travels to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on Colorado Mesa in a RMAC matchup.
