Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Colorado Mesa, 22-6

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (April 10, 2022) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team had a tough test on the road against Colorado Mesa as the Mavs walked away with a 22-6 win.
 
The Mavericks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Pack before Logan Naves (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored the lone goal of the first quarter for the ThunderWolves. The Mavs scored with just 27 seconds left in the first quarter to hold a 4-1 advantage.
 
Colorado Mesa added on three more goals in the second quarter to take a 7-1 lead before Ian Noonan (Jr., Wilmington, Del.) cut the ThunderWolves deficit down to five. The Mavericks outscored the ThunderWolves 3-0 to close the quarter to hold on to a 10-2 led at half.
 
The Mavericks kept up the offensive pressure but the ThunderWolves were able to tack on three goals while holding CMU to five. Naves scored just three minutes into the third quarter and wouldn't see the back of the net until Cameron Hancock (Jr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored with 1:13 left in the quarter. Trevor Thompson (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) scored the final goal of the quarter for the ThunderWolves as CMU held a 15-5 lead going in to the final quarter.
 
Dylan Johnson (Fr., Simi Valley, Calif.) scored the final goal of the game for the Pack with 11:37 remaining in the game as CMU held on for a 22-6 victory.
 
Naves led the ThunderWolves with two goals off five shots and a ground ball while Noonan, Hancock, Johnson, and Thompson each scored a goal for the Pack. Ethan Ferrie (Jr., Littleton, Colo.) faced 69 shots from the Mavericks as he registered 14 saves while Darius Miller (So., Aurora, Colo.) tallied two.
 
The ThunderWolves are slated for a rematch against Colorado Mesa at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium on Friday, April 22nd, at 3:30 p.m.
