Â
Game 1 | CSU Pueblo 6 – Regis 0
Â
The opening game of the doubleheader saw a patient CSU Pueblo team at the plate. As the visitors, the Pack led off the game and soon entered the second inning in a 0-0 stalemate.
Â
The second inning saw costly mistakes for the Rangers and the ThunderWolves jumped on the opportunities.Â
Trey Vasquez led off the inning with a single and was followed by aÂ
Tyson Pallatt walk. Vasquez soon stole third base to put himself in 90 feet away and scored off a throwing error after Pallatt stole second.
Â
The Pack ran the same baserunning play later in the inning. This time,Â
Brock Rodrigues ran as the decoy and forced a throw down to second to score the anticipating Pallatt from third. Rodrigues later scored off a wild pitch to extend the advantage for the Pack.
Â
The marathon inning carried on and the Pack loaded the bases thanks to consecutive hit-by-pitch at-bats.Â
Brady Prewitt walked homeÂ
Brodie Blackford andÂ
Jacob Federico later scored off another wild pitch. Â
Â
The long second inning gaveÂ
Zach Pratt and the ThunderWolves a five-run cushion early on in the ballgame.
Â
The Pack padded the lead in the third off the bat ofÂ
Ty Lewis who batted inÂ
Reggie Williams from third to give a commanding 6-0 lead.
Â
Pratt kept it rolling on the mound and continued to shut down the Rangers. The hurler forced three double plays over the course of his seven innings pitched and racked up four strikeouts.
Â
Frank Wierman took over duties on the mound for the final two innings and made quick work of the Rangers. The lefty closed it out and recorded three strikeouts in two innings on the hill to help ice the 6-0 game one win for CSU Pueblo.
Â
Pratt's commanding presence on the mound clinched his second in of the season and his first of RMAC play. Pratt was backed by three hits from the Pack that came of the bats of Williams, Blackford and Vasquez.
Â
Game 2 | CSU Pueblo 4 – Regis 2
Â
Regis responded to the first game loss with a hot start to the second game, scoring two runs in the first inning.Â
Â
In the second inning,Â
Manny Sierra and
Kysen Howard got aboard with a pair of singles to setup Prewitt at the plate. Prewitt smacked a triple to right and sent his teammates across home plate to tie up the ballgame.
Â
Prewitt was sent home off a sacrifice fly fromÂ
Noah Hennings and gave the Pack a narrow 3-2 lead after two innings of play.
Â

Reggie Williams drew a walk with the bases loaded and sent Howard home from third to take a late 4-2 lead.
Â
Dylan Weaver came back out on the mound for the seventh inning and struck out the side in straight order to clinch the save and the 4-2 win for the Pack.
Â
CSU Pueblo's doubleheader sweep sealed the series win over Regis to kick-off the RMAC season.
Â
Although it was a defensively dominated day both on the mound and the field, the Pack bats supplied enough runs to give padding for the hurlers.
Â
Prewitt highlighted the second game after he batted 2-4 with two RBIs.
Reggie Williams, Lewis, Sierra and Howard all added on a single hit apiece to help the offensive cause.
Â
Lombardelli received credit for his first win of the 2022 campaign after going three innings and only allowing a single hit.
