Pack drop two at Christian

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (March 26, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games at Colorado Christian, falling 3-1 in game one and dropping a 4-3 decision on game two at All Star Park.

On the day, Hannah Hackney (Sr., Erie, Colo.) led with two homeruns, three RBI and earned three walks at the plate.

Raelynn Rogers (Fr., Surprise, Ariz.) tallied three hits in the leadoff spot.

In game one, all of the runs in the game came during the third inning. In the top half, Hackney connected on a solo shot to put the Pack ahead 1-0 at the time.

During the home half of the frame, CCU totaled three runs on four hits.

Pack starting pitcher Sophia Lishner (So., Gilbert, Ariz.) had a solid outing in the circle, giving up three runs and scattered seven hits in 6.0 innings of work. She ended with two strikeouts.

Over the last four innings, CSU Pueblo managed two hits and left four total runners on base.

Lishner drops to 2-6 on the year.

In game two, CSU Pueblo outhit the Cougars by an 8-7 clip and took a two-run lead after the first inning on another homerun hit by Hackney. She now has seven homeruns on the season.

Starting in the circle for the ThunderWolves, Taylor Strupp (Sr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) pitched strong against the potent Cougars lineup and held CCU to no runs until the fifth inning.

CCU cut the lead in half during the fifth inning and CSU Pueblo tacked on a run in their next at bat on a RBI-single from Jill Bishop (Jr., Brighton, Colo.) and built a 3-1 lead.

Carrying the two run advantage heading to the bottom of the seventh, CCU recorded three singles including a walk with the bases loaded to get the winning run into scoring position with one out.

The home team walked it off with a single up the middle, scoring two runs and stealing a 4-3 victory.

Strupp drops to 6-3 on the year.

CSU Pueblo (12-11, 8-10 RMAC) will finish the series with another doubleheader on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. at All Star Park in Lakewood.
