PUEBLO, Colo. (Nov. 5, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo football team had another strong offensive output and score six touchdowns including a pick-six late in the fourth quarter of a 45-20 win over South Dakota Mines.
In the win, CSU Pueblo wide receiver
Andrew Cook hauled in his 12th touchdown of the season during the fourth quarter and broke the ThunderWolves' record for touchdown receptions on the year. He beat Paul Browning's record set back in 2011 when he finished the year with 11 touchdown receptions.
Cook received three punts and returned for a total of 75 yards and had a game-long of 48 yards.
CSU Pueblo quarterback
Hunter Raquet tossed four touchdown passes and racked up 316 yards in the air on 17-of-35 passing to lead the ThunderWolves to a sixth straight win to improve to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in RMAC play.
The ThunderWolves totaled 544 yards on offense and included 228 yards on the ground led by
Jordan Jones with 67 on eight carries and one touchdown.Â
Nick Bingham chipped in with 64 yards rushing on 16 carries.
Max Fine registered 113 receiving yards and brought in one of the four touchdown passes during the third quarter.
Nick Bingham and
Zack Rakowsky each accounted for a touchdown reception in the contest.
Defensively,
Jon Nuschy ended with eight tackles including six solo takedowns and
Daniel Bone finished with five tackles, two interceptions and one tackle for loss of yards. His two picks were good for 65 yards and was capped off by a fourth quarter pick-six for the ThunderWolves.
Momar Fall totaled three sacks and three tackles for loss to go along with his five for the game.
On special teams, the Pack totaled 488 yards and
Jon Lujan booted three punts for 122 yards and a 40.7 yards per punt average. One of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line and included two touchbacks and one that went for over 50+ yards.
CSU Pueblo (7-3, 6-2 RMAC) will go on the road for the regular season game of the season, next Saturday at Black Hills State. Kickoff is set for Noon in Spearfish, South Dakota.
