PUEBLO, Colo. (November 19, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's basketball team capped the 38th Annual Al Kaly Shrine Classic on a high note, scoring a 74-55 victory over MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday inside Massari Arena.
The ThunderWolves used another well-balanced attack on offense led by
Charisse Fairley with 14 points and six rebounds.
JaNaiya Davis recorded a double-double, chipping in 13 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Landri Hudson and
Teona Stojanova each added 11 and 10 points, respectively for the ThunderWolves.
As a team, the Pack shot 42.6% from the field and went 12-of-25 from beyond the arc.
The ThunderWolves bench poured in 34 points and scored 14 points on the fast break.
CSU Pueblo built a 19-7 lead after the first quarter after shooting 41% from the field to start the game.
MNU climbed back into the game in the second quarter and outscored the ThunderWolves 15-14 with the Pack holding onto a 33-22 lead at halftime.
The ThunderWolves came out in the second half and shot 53.3% from the field and the team made five three-pointers to maintain its cushion.
In the last quarter, the Pack defense buckled down and caused several turnovers with MNU trying to make a comeback to no avail.
CSU Pueblo (2-2) stays home next week and will host the Thanksgiving Classic. The ThunderWolves will take on Emporia State on Friday and will finish the nonconference schedule on Saturday against Wayland Baptist. Both games are scheduled for 5 p.m. inside Massari Arena.
