ThunderWolves tripped up at Lubbock Christian

LUBBOCK, Tex. (Nov. 13, 2022) - Colorado Stats University Pueblo women's basketball team dropped a nonconference matchup to Lubbock Christian on the road Friday night, falling 76-58 to wrap play at the Carpet Tech Classic.

Charisse Fairley led the way with 18 points and four rebounds, closely followed by JaNaiya Davis with 9 points and six rebounds.

The Pack got off to a cold start, but got on the board with a jumper by Fairley.

Landri Hudson was able to land a layup to pull within one and eventually tie and take the lead 11-10, on a pair of free throws by Tomia Johnson with 3:35 left in the opening quarter.

Fairley dropped in a three pointer to extend the Pack lead, before LCU eventually answered with a three of their own to lead after the first quarter, 17-16.

In the second quarter, the ThunderWolves got a spark from Alice Stevenson, before Lubbock Christian went on a 15-3 run. However, the Pack were able to cut into the lead on a pair of baskets from Fairley.

Heading into the half, the Pack were down 40-28.

The ThunderWolves came out hot with a quick bucket from Fairley, but LCU proved tough going on a 8-point run until Morgan Dial was able to continue battling with a three pointer, six minutes into the second half, cutting the lead to 15.

Nothing was falling for the Pack however to finish the quarter, heading into the fourth down 59-40.

Davis was able to capitalize to begin the final quarter, dropping in a pair of free throws and a bucket to create a little momentum for the Pack.

Davis stayed hot finishing with 7 points in the fourth, and Hudson was able to make back-to-back buckets for five points within thirty seconds.

The Pack were unable to cut much more into the lead of Lubbock Christian, winning the fourth quarter 18-17, but ultimately losing the game 76-58.

The loss puts the Pack at 0-2 on the fresh season, but they are back in action on Friday, November 18th for their home opener as they take on Alaska Fairbanks at 5 p.m. inside Massari Arena for the start of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic.
