PUEBLO, Colo. (October 9, 2022) - No. 7 Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer improved to 7-1 at the friendly confines of Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium following a 5-0 shutout win over Adams State on Senior Day at the pitch.
Ahead of the match, Pack Head Coach
Oliver Twelvetrees and his coaching staff honored three seniors.
Gustavo Murtha,
Nils Roth, and
Mario Sandoval each were recognized and given a gift from the team.
In the game, CSU Pueblo received goals from five different players and the scoring started early in the match.
The Pack recorded 18 shots against one by ASU and the home team earned five corners.
Gabriel Campora scored first in the second minute of action after
Mario Sandoval served in a ball across the defense for the early lead.
Less than ninety seconds passed before the ThunderWolves scored again after getting possession in ASU territory and
Matthew Coleman took the ball down the left side and volleyed the ball inside the box.
Reggie Nicolas let the ball bounce and struck the ball in mid-air, crossing up the Grizzlies goalkeeper. It was Nicolas' third goal of the weekend.
During the 21st minute,
Lamar Bynum tracked a loose ball down the near side and sent in a beauty of a ball center of the net and Campora kept the ball alive with a back foot toe-tap pass to
Ricardo Schroeder Jr. who finished and scored his sixth goal of the year.
With just over 17 minutes left in the first half, Bynum again got possession and from beyond midfield, sent in a ball ahead to
Joseph Baston, who had just entered the game moments before
, and Baston struck his first and only shot of the game past the keeper and give the Pack a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Through the first half, Pack goalkeeper
Roth made one save in 45:00 minutes at the net.
Will Whitworth came on and played the entire second half and faced zero shots by ASU.
The ThunderWolves added one last goal during the 82nd minute when
Francisco Chavez assisted on a goal scored by
Aden O'Hara.
Over the last twenty minutes, both teams went to their benches.

CSU Pueblo (11-2-1, 5-0-1 RMAC) next will travel to Golden and play a big conference game Thursday at 5 p.m. at Colorado School of Mines.
