Pack offense comes alive in 4-1 win over Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. (Oct. 20, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team stayed unbeaten in its last four matches after a 4-1 win over Colorado Christian at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The Pack received goals from four different players and scored two goals in less than thirty seconds span to come away with the victory.

The ThunderWolves dominated offensively, recording sixteen shots against four from CCU. CSU Pueblo earned two corners.

The scoring started early for the Pack when Jacquelyn Kosegarten scored after just a minute and half of action. She took a rebounded shot by Faith Meredith that the CCU goalkeeper saved and pushed the ball out, allowing Kosegarten to fire a shot out of the reach of the diving keeper for the 1-0 lead.

The visitors scored the equalizer during the 22nd minute.

The teams battled to a 1-1 tie after the first half. In the period, CSU Pueblo tallied eight shots.

In the second half, CSU Pueblo took the lead again in the 67' when Jerzie Troost fired a shot from nearly 40 yards away on a pass by Kia Comstock. It is the first goal of the season for Troost.

Ten minutes later, the ThunderWolves again found possession in Cougars territory and Drew Morby connected a header goal after taking a throw-in pass from Kosegarten and extending the Pack's lead to 3-1.

Moments after the goal, CSU Pueblo gained the ball deep in the final third of the pitch and Cortney Cowles was able to score her first goal of the year and to put the game away.

Pack goalkeeper Nicole Genis made save against four shots and allowed one goal.

CSU Pueblo (5-9-2, 4-4-2 RMAC) next up will face No. 10 Colorado School of Mines on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gonzales Stadium.
