GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (Oct. 15, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team lost for just the second time away from Massari Arena, falling 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 20-25, 22-25) at No. 20 Colorado Mesa.
The ThunderWolves were led by three players with double-digit kills.
Payton Van Veen finished with 13 kills,
Sadie Scoville ended with 12 kills and
Hannah Delor chipped in ten kills for the Pack.
For the match, CSU Pueblo ended with a .343 hitting percentage and 56 kills.
Defensively, the Pack finished ahead in blocks by an 8-3 clip.
Josey Nunn led all players with six rejections at the net.
In the first set, CSU Pueblo battled back-and-forth against the Mavericks and took the opening set to the max as CMU won 26-24.
During the second set, the ThunderWolves offensive came alive in a ten-point, 25-15 victory.
Over the next two sets, the Mavericks took an early lead during each of the third and fourth sets and did not allow the ThunderWolves to get into a rhythm.
CSU Pueblo (16-4, 9-3 RMAC) returns home and will host Colorado School of Mines on Friday and will finish the weekend Saturday against Chadron State. Both matches are scheduled for a 7 p.m. start inside Massari Arena.
