PUEBLO, Colo. (Oct. 1, 2022) - The Colorado State University Pueblo football team celebrated Homecoming Weekend in a big way, smashing past Fort Lewis, 75-3 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl.
The ThunderWolves recorded 537 yards of offense including 315 on the ground. They totaled 29 first downs and the defense tallied a season-high five interceptions.
The Pack controlled the game from the onset, jumping out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. The first touchdown came on the ground when
Hunter Raquet rushed in from nine yards out and 8:49 left in the quarter. The second score came by way of the air when Raquet tossed his first of three touchdowns on the day, a 35-yard completion to
Andrew Cook, on just the second play of the drive.
Another Pack touchdown came following a quick three-and-out by FLC gave the ThunderWolves great field position on FLC's 31 yard line.
Austin Bacher capped the drive with a 3-yard rush for the third TD of the quarter and just under four minutes left.
The ThunderWolves quickly regained possession and had the ball heading into the second quarter and on the first play in the period, another Raquet to Cook touchdown pass of 22 yards, put the Pack ahead by four touchdowns, 28-0.
At 10:14 left in the first half, CSU Pueblo again got the ball and drove down six plays for 48 yards and another rushing touchdown, this time by
Kiahn Martinez from 14 yards out.
The ThunderWolves kept their foot on the gas and scored their sixth touchdown of the half on a Raquet 3-yard rush, taking just over two minutes to drive the ball 65 yards for the score.
Fort Lewis avoided the shutout when they connected on a 45-yard field goal with ninety seconds left in the half.
On the kickoff, CSU Pueblo received the ball at their own 25 yard line after a touchback that set up a one play, 75-yard touchdown connection between Raquet and
Zack Rakowsky.
The Pack carried a 49-3 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the ThunderWolves used their depth on the roster and continued to score.Â
Entering the game for the first time,
Leslie Richardson III tossed his first touchdown of the game when he and
Christopher Brown were able to score on a 24-yard touchdown reception, capping off a two play, 35-yard drive that took only 44 seconds.
The Pack earned a pick-six when
Emanuel Fincher intercepted the ball at the FLC 31 and returned it to the end zone.
The ThunderWolves added another score after possessing the ball going into the final quarter and scored on a 1-yard touchdown by
Steven Croell.
The Pack tacked on one more touchdown with under five minutes left on a 2-yard touchdown rush by
Pierre-Giovanni Medjeber.Â
CSU Pueblo finished with three sacks and was 7-of-8 in the red zone.
CSU Pueblo (2-3, 1-2 RMAC) next travel to Adams State for a RMAC matchup Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rex Stadium in Alamosa.
