ThunderWolves drop pair of road matches at Eastern NM and Angelo State to begin season

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 5, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer dropped a pair of road contests at Eastern New Mexico on Thursday and at No. 3 Angelo State on Sunday, both by scores of 2-0 in the opening weekend for the Pack.

In the season opener on Thursday, the Pack finished the match with a 16-14 shots lead and earned six corner kicks against one for the Greyhounds.

Cara Siegel (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) led the ThunderWolves attack with four shots, tying for the game high in the match. Madison Jepperson (Sr., Cottonwood Heights, Utah) tallied three shots and one landing on frame.

Eastern NM scored both of its goals in the second half. The first score came in the 58' with the second goal coming ten minutes later in the 68th minute.

The Pack kept the pressure and continued to create chances throughout the final period, totaling ten shots and six landing on frame.

Pack goalkeeper Nicole Genis (So., San Jose, Costa Rica) made four saves against 14 shots by ENMU.

Angelo State Recap
Facing off against a tough opponent in No. 3 Angelo State, who went unbeaten during the spring season, the ThunderWolves were limited to three chances at the net in the match. Faith Meredith (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) recorded two shots on goal to pace the ThunderWolves.

The Belles scored in the fifth minute off a corner kick and added to the lead in the 85th minute.

At the net, Genis made six saves in the match and faced a balanced offensive attack by ASU.

CSU Pueblo (0-2-0) will begin its home portion of the schedule when they host Emporia State Friday at 7 p.m. and they conclude the weekend on Sunday versus Fort Hays State at 1 p.m., both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
