PUEBLO, Colo. (September 5, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team remained unbeaten and improved to 3-0-0 after securing a 1-0 victory over Newman on Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Playing in their third match in four days, the ThunderWolves offense put out a strong performance, totaling 21 shots in the match and six landing on goal.
Carlos Espinoza (Sr., Simi Valley, Calif.) netted his first goal of the season in the 42nd minute after gathering the ball on a rebounded shot off the post and struck the back of the net to put the Pack ahead going into halftime.
At the break, CSU Pueblo outshot Newman by an 11-1 clip and produced seven corner kick chances against one for the Jets.
Making his Pack debut at goalkeeper,
Will Whitworth (Fr.,
Gloucester, England) stood tall for majority of the match and faced two shots that sailed high with minimal threat.
The Pack defense posted their second straight clean sheet in as many days and limited the Jets scoring opportunities.
Carlos Sanchis (Grad., Spain) led all players with five shots.

CSU Pueblo (3-0-0) goes on the road and travels to Lubbock, Texas where they will face off against Texas Permian Basin on Friday at a neutral site and will wrap the road trip on Sunday against Lubbock Christian. Both matches will be played at LCU's Soccer & Track Facility.
