ThunderWolves earn third straight clean sheet in 3-0 win over UT Permian Basin

LUBBOCK, Tex. (September 10, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team earned its third straight clean sheet Friday, defeating University of Texas Permian Basin 3-0 behind two goals from Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany) and a first collegiate goal scored by Lamar Bynum (Fr., Albuquerque, NM).

It is the first goals of the season for both Zingel and Bynum.

The ThunderWolves remain unbeaten through the first two weeks of the season and nonconference play.

In the match, CSU Pueblo out shot the Falcons by an 18-7 clip. The ThunderWolves' defense again was strong in holding UTPB to three shots on goal.

Zingel put the Pack on the board during the 8th minute and later connected on a goal in the 30th minute after receiving a pass from Kenshin Uneo (Jr., Hyoga, Japan).

At intermission, CSU Pueblo recorded nine shots and earned two corner kicks.

In the second half, the Pack defense continued to apply pressure on the Falcons and allowed the offense to continue to create scoring chances.

In the 78th minute Bynum took a pass from Nazar Deputat (Sr., Ocala, Fla.) and struck the back of the net for his first goal of his career.

Pack goalkeeper Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) earned the win at the net and made three saves.

CSU Pueblo Assistant Coach Nick Blackwell had nothing but praise for the team's efforts Friday. "Very proud of the boys for the collective effort tonight to win our first road match of the season. To score three goals on the road is impressive and our attacking mentality was fantastic today at exploiting the spaces to play," Blackwell said.

"Defensively, another clean sheet. On the road you are going to weather moments from the opponent and we were resolute defensively. The guys defended together, worked very hard in transition, and earned another clean sheet as a group."

CSU Pueblo (4-0-0) remains in Lubbock and will battle against Lubbock Christian on Sunday at 3 p.m. (2 p.m. MT) at LCU Soccer & Track Facility.
