GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (May 21, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo baseball team ended its 2021 season in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament Friday with a 7-5 loss to No. 21 Metro State University of Denver.
The fifth-seeded ThunderWolves (15-24) totaled 10 hits, while allowing the two-seeded Roadrunners (34-9) had seven hits. The Pack had one error, while MSU Denver had two. CSU Pueblo left seven on base and the Roadrunners stranded four.
In the three RMAC Tournament games the Pack totaled 34 hits.
Player Performances
Aidan Welch (Jr., INF, Seattle, Wash.) went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk.
Senior catcher
Stone Romero (Albuquerque, N.M.) was the only other Pack player to produce multiple hits, as he went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

JP Hopkins (OF, Chino Hills, Calif.) hit a two-run homer while batting in the ninth position.
Senior
Logan Gibbons (UTL, Taylorsville, Utah) threw 5.2 innings as the Pack's starter. He allowed five runs on just five hits with two strikeouts. Senior right-hander
Andrew Coverly (Centennial, Colo.) pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
Game Summary
The ThunderWolves struck first with two runs on five hits in the top half of the first inning.
Adrian Martinez (Sr., OF, Tucson, Ariz.) singled to left to plate Welch, then Romero singled to right to score sophomore
Reggie Williams (1B, Castle Rock, Colo.).
Unfortunately, the Roadrunners scored three in the bottom half to go up 3-2.
In the fourth, sophomore
Brock Rodrigues (UTL, Pueblo, Colo.) singled through the left side to score Romero, who started the frame with a triple.
Again, MSU Denver responded to the Pack scoring, and plated a run to go back up 4-3.
In the sixth, Hopkins handed the ThunderWolves a 5-4 lead when he sent a 1-2 offering over the left field fence. Junior
Trey Vasquez (SS, Greeley, Colo.) scored on the play.
The seesaw match continued in the bottom half of the inning when MSU Denver worked a run out of the Pack and the game was tied 5-5.
With two outs in the seventh, the Roadrunners recorded a two-run homer to open a 7-5 advantage.
CSU Pueblo wouldn't get a baserunner in the final two innings, as their season ended with the two-run loss.
