GUNNISON, Colo. (April 9, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer scored two first half goals en route to a 2-0 win at Western Colorado University Friday in the regular season finale for the ThunderWolves.

CSU Pueblo (5-2-1, 3-1-1 RMAC) received scores from Litzy Serna (Sr., West Jordan, Utah) in the 10th minute and Faith Meredith (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) in the 21st minute.

In the match, the Pack out shot Western by a 19-15 clip and the ThunderWolves had 13 shots land on goal against four for the Mountaineers. Meredith led all players with five shots and three landing on frame.

Through the first forty-five minutes of play, CSU Pueblo totaled eleven shots and one corner kick.

Over the final period, CSU Pueblo's defense was again effective and limited Western to minimal scoring opportunities.

The offense played fast throughout the match and was called offside eleven times.

Cara Siegel (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) fired two shots on goal and four in the game.

Pack goalkeeper Nicole Genis (So., San Jose, Costa Rica) made four saves against the 13 shots by Western.

Coach Comments
"Happy with the group effort today to pick up a win on the road. Our attack was dangerous from the get go, creating plenty of chances on net," said Pack Head Coach Sierra Cardenas. "Litzy continued her momentum finding the back of the net again and I'm excited for Faith Meredith for picking up her first career goal with the Pack and adding an assist on the day."

"Also pleased with our defensive effort to earn another clean sheet, and I thought the team did a good job limiting Western's chances to shots from distance. Now our sights are set on using the next week to recover and prepare for RMAC Tournament play."

CSU Pueblo will now wait for the remaining games around the league to be complete and will learn of their postseason fate. The RMAC Tournament will consist of the top eight teams from around the league. Stay tuned to CSU Pueblo Athletics Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for schedule and postseason updates.
