PUEBLO, Colo. (April 8, 2021) - The No. 25 and third seed Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team will battle No. 3 and the second seed Metro State University of Denver in the semifinal of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament, April 9 at 5 p.m. in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The ThunderWolves, who entered the American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll for the first time since 1998 this week, advanced out of the quarterfinal round when their opponent, No. 6 seed South Dakota Mines, had to withdraw from the tournament due to COVID-19 testing and protocols.
The Pack enters the tournament with an 11-3 overall record. CSU Pueblo went 9-2 in RMAC play this season to earn a top three seed in the championship for the first time since 1997. Four members of the ThunderWolves were named All-RMAC yesterday, as
Jazzy Espinoza (Jr., MB, Cheyenne, Wyo.),
Payton Stack (Sr., OPP, Casper, Wyo.) and
Maddy Wisniewski (Sr., OH/RS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) were all recognized on the first team. On the All-RMAC Honorable Mention team was
Elaine Thibadeau (Jr., L, Monument, Colo.).
MSU Denver ranks No. 3 nationally and owns a 14-1 overall record. The Roadrunners went 11-1 in league play to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament. MSU Denver defeated Colorado Christian University 3-1 Thursday in their quarterfinal match.
