Men's soccer remains unbeaten after 3-1 win at Adams

ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 8, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team remained unbeaten after defeating Adams State University 3-1 Thursday, at ASU Soccer Field.

The goals were scored by Joe O'Sullivan (Sr., Deltona, Fla.), Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany), and Miguel De Leon Jr. (Sr., Ocala, Fla.). All three players now have five goals on the season.

In the match, CSU Pueblo dominated offensively, recording 19 shots against just two for the Grizzlies.

The Pack earned three corner kicks in the first five minutes of action.

CSU Pueblo got on the board in the 9th minute when O'Sullivan hit a shot into the lower left part of the net.

At intermission, the ThunderWolves had tallied nine shots and eight corner kicks.

The second goal came minutes into the second half when Zingel drew a foul inside the box and converted on the penalty kick goal.

The lead reached 3-nil in the 69th minute when De Leon Jr. scored after taking a pass from Zingel and hitting a one-timer into the back of the net.

CSU Pueblo ended with ten second half shots and totaled nine corners.

ThunderWolves goalkeeper Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) gave up one goal in the 80th minute and for majority of the match faced little pressure thanks to the solid play at midfield and by the back defensive line.

Coach Comments
"I was happy with our effort today. We created lots of chances and were dominant throughout only conceding two shots in 90 minutes," said Pack Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees. "Our dangerous front 3 of Joe, Vinny, and Miguel continue to score and create chances for themselves and others."

"Looking forward to finishing up our regular season at home Sunday and will work hard for an undefeated season."

CSU Pueblo (5-0-2, 3-0-2 RMAC) will close the regular season and host Colorado Christian on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. Ahead of the match, the ThunderWolves and Coaching Staff will honor departing senior Tanner Pile (Tempe, Ariz.) who will play in his last regular season home game for the Pack.
