LAKEWOOD, Colo. (April 7, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer opened their final road trip of the regular season on a high note, defeating Colorado Christian University 1-0 Wednesday at Trailblazer Stadium.
The Pack's
Porsche Nieto (Jr., Thornton, Colo.) scored the Golden Goal, her first goal of the season, in the 97' after picking up a loose ball in the top of the box, and shooting from ten yards out in to the bottom left of the net for the victory.
Litzy Serna (Sr., West Jordan, Utah) was given credit with the assist on the play.
Battling through a scoreless tie throughout regulation, CSU Pueblo created several scoring chances with five landing on goal on 11 shots.
In the match, four Pack players recorded two shots.
Playing full time on the pitch, defender
Jordin Schaller (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and
Sabrina Bridwell (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) anchored the defense and limited the Cougars to five shots on goal and nine for the match.
The ThunderWolves recorded eight corner kicks against two for CCU.
Pack goalkeeper
Nicole Genis (So., San Jose, Costa Rica) made five saves to earn the shutout.

"It took us a bit longer than we would have liked to really get into a rhythm today during the first half," said Pack Head Coach
Sierra Cardenas. "The team came out with energy and put together a solid second half and came out hungry in overtime to find a way to get the win."

CSU Pueblo (4-2-1, 2-1-1 RMAC) will conclude the regular season Friday at Western Colorado University. Kickoff against the Mountaineers is slated for 3 p.m. in Gunnison, Colo.
