PUEBLO, Colo. (April 7, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball split the final two games against Fort Lewis College, winning in come-from-behind and walk-off fashion, in a 5-4 Pack win in game one and losing 4-2 in the series finale.
On the day, CSU Pueblo was guided offensively by
Isabel Griego (Jr., Loveland, Colo.) and
Hannah Hackney (Jr., Erie, Colo.) as both collected three hits in the two games.
Four others recorded multiple hits.
In game one, CSU Pueblo scored four runs over the final two innings and steal a 5-4 contest.
Starting the game, Fort Lewis scored two runs in the first at bat.
Katelynn Ralston (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) began the scoring for the ThunderWolves with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
The ThunderWolves offense remained at bay throughout the middle innings and managed one hit until the sixth inning.
FLC added single runs in the third and sixth and held a 4-1 lead through 5 1/2 innings of play.
In the home portion of the sixth, CSU Pueblo collected three hits and scored three runs including an RBI single from
Sabrina Felix (Sr., Corona, Calif.).
In the last at bat and with one out, Hackney struck a double down the left field line and was pinch ran for by
Alyssa Caulford (Fr., Fillmore, Calif.). A line out on the infield for the second out brought
Gabby Moreno (Sr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) to the plate and she hit a single above the infield that dropped in front of the right fielder, allowing the winning run to cross.
Pack starting pitcher
Oakleigh Kearby (Fr., Meridian, Idaho) lasted 0.1 innings and gave up two runs on three hits.
Ralston entered in the circle in relief and tossed 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. She ended with six strikeouts and no walks.
In the series finale, CSU Pueblo scored the first run in their first at bat on a wild pitch. Fort Lewis evened the score in the next inning and the score would remain 1-1 until the fifth inning.
FLC plated two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth and built a 4-1 lead going to the seventh.
CSU Pueblo leadoff the inning with a single by Griego and she would come around to score on a
Melissa Torrez (Jr., Buena Park, Calif.) single up the middle. With the tying run at the plate, an error on the defense allowed the winning run to step to the plate and FLC pitching induced a ground ball out to end the game at 4-2.

Samantha Riesen (Sr., Independence, Calif.) was tagged with the loss.
CSU Pueblo (12-12, 9-11 RMAC) are next scheduled to travel and take on New Mexico Highlands Apr. 17-18 in a four game series in Las Vegas, N.M.
