Pack close home season with loss to Rangers

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 20, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's lacrosse team closed the regular season home schedule with a 21-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference loss to No. 11 Regis University Tuesday at the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
 
The Rangers (9-1, 5-0 RMAC) put 34 of their 39 shots on goal, while allowing the ThunderWolves (4-6, 2-3 RMAC) just 10 shots with six on frame. Draw controls went the way of the away team 18-9, as did ground balls, 23-14. 
  
PLAYER PERFORMANCES
 
Senior Olivia Tener (M, Boise, Id.) scored twice on three shots on goal. She also brought in three draw controls. 
 
Senior Emily Eller (A, Keller, Texas) scored a goal and had an assist. She also brought in three draw controls. 
 
Freshman Hannah Huchette (Lake Oswego, Ore.) recorded one goal and one assist on one shot on goal. 
 
For the defense, senior Madison Cunningham (D, Corona, Calif.) had two ground balls and a draw control. 
 
Senior Ane Marie Horton (G, Long Beach, Calif.) totaled 12 saves and led the team with four ground balls. 
  
SUMMARY


CSU Pueblo scored first just 1:10 into the game when Eller found the back of the net off a dish from sophomore Ashley Hendricks (A, Hood River, Ore.). 
 
Unfortunately for the ThunderWolves, Regis scored just 1:46 later, which started an 11-0 run for the Rangers. 
 
Tener scored on an assist from Eller with 7:09 showing on the game clock, but the Pack would go into the locker room down 13-2 at the break. 
 
The Rangers scored the first seven goals of the second half to lead 20-2 before Tener netted a player-down goal with 7:08 remaining in the game. 
 
She was assisted by Huchette, then the freshman scored a goal of her own with 5:49 left. She was aided by a pass from freshman Caira Lessick (M, Oregon City, Ore.). 
Regis added one more in the final minute to win 21-4.
 
UP NEXT
 
The ThunderWolves will face the Rangers again Friday in a road contest beginning at 1 p.m. No fans will be allowed.
