Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

ThunderWolves win streak reaches four after 2-0 win at Christian

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (March 26, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team remained unbeaten and improved to 4-0-0 on the year and 2-0-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play after defeating Colorado Christian 2-0 Friday at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.

The Pack offense was ignited from the onset as they scored both goals in the first twelve minutes of play. CSU Pueblo got its first goal in the 11th minute off a corner taken by Nazar Deputat (Sr., Ocala, Fla.) who then placed a perfect ball on to Miguel De Leon Jr. (Deltona, Fla.) and was able to finish for his fourth goal of the season.

Just 84 seconds lapsed before the ThunderWolves again found possession deep in the Cougars final third and created yet another corner kick opportunity.

This time, Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany) dished in his fourth assist of the year, hitting in stride Pack defender Emil Joensson (Fr., Kristianstad, Sweden) who struck a one-timer for his first collegiate goal.

With less than 19 minutes left in the first half, Colorado Christian was tagged with a red card, resulting in the Pack playing with a one-man advantage.

At intermission, the ThunderWolves held a 4-0 shots lead and had created six corner kick chances.

In the second period, CSU Pueblo continued its first step attack and intercepted several across field passes made by CCU.

The Pack played with a two-man advantage starting in the 71st minute when a second red card was issued against the Cougars.

Pack goalkeeper Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) stood tall while at the net and faced just three shots and zero landing on goal.

Coach Comments
"It was good to get a positive result and another clean sheet. We defended well collectively, only allowing three shots," said Pack Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees. "Scoring on two set pieces was a nice reward for our hard work on the training pitch."

"Emil scored a great header and we are all happy for him, he exemplifies what we want in our student-athletes. A disciplined and intelligent footballer and a fantastic person."

CSU Pueblo (4-0-0, 2-0-0 RMAC) stays on the road for another tough outing Sunday at Fort Lewis. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Dirks Field in Durango, Colo.
