PUEBLO, Colo. (March 21, 2021) – Three student-athletes from the Colorado State University Pueblo women's lacrosse team scored five goals each, as the ThunderWolves recorded an 18-16 home victory Sunday the Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Senior
Emily Eller (A, Keller, Texas),
Caira Lessick (Fr., M, Oregon City, Ore.) and
Baylee Mee (Fr., Reno, Nev.) all netted five goals to guide the Pack (2-2) offense. Senior
Ane Marie Horton (G, Long Beach, Calif.) recorded 16 saves.
Missouri Western (2-4) put 36 of its 32 shots on goal, while CSU Pueblo overcame 29 turnovers by scoring on 18 of their 24 shots on goal. The home team also controlled the draw with 22 draw controls to the Griffins' 14. Both teams took nine free position shots and scored on six of them.

PLAYER PERFORMANCES
Eller scored her five goals on five shots on goal. She also led the team with four caused turnovers and she picked up a team-high four ground balls. Eller and senior
Olivia Tener (M, Boise, Id.) tied for the lead with nine draw controls apiece.
Lessick led the team with six points, as she added an assist to her five-goal performance. She had two draw controls and a ground ball.
Mee scored her five goals on seven shots on frame. She also added two draw controls, two ground balls and caused a turnover.
Ashley Hendricks (So., D, Hood River, Ore.) scored twice and dished out two assists.
Tener added a goal and an assist.
SUMMARY
Mee got things started early for the Pack, as she netted the first two goals of the game in the opening 2:28. MWSU responded with the next three goals to open a 3-2 lead. A Tener goal 10 minutes into the game knotted the contest 3-3.
The Griffins scored two of the next three goals and at the midway point of the half led 5-4. CSU Pueblo responded with five straight goals, which included two from Mee and two from Eller, to lead 9-5. To close the half, Hendricks scored twice in a matter of 14 seconds and the Pack owned an 11-6 advantage at the break.
Missouri Western scored three of the first four goals of the second half to get within three at 12-9, but then Lessick scored twice and Eller posted a player-up goal to open a 15-9 lead.
The Griffins scored three straight goals, but then Lessick took over and scored twice in 1:40 to lead 17-12. MWSU scored four of the final five goals to get within two at 18-16 with 1:42 remaining, but Eller won the ensuing draw and the Pack were able to hold on to the ball until the final seconds came off the clock.

The ThunderWolves begin the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season at home April 1 when the Pack host nationally-ranked Regis University beginning at 5 p.m.
