PUEBLO, Colo. (March 15, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo men's lacrosse team suffered an 18-8 loss to Colorado College Monday in the 2021 home opener.
The ThunderWolves (1-2) lost the faceoff battle 19-9 and ground balls went the way of the Tigers (4-0), 44-34. CSU Pueblo trailed by just two at the half and at that point the home team led in the shots on goal category, 18-16. The Pack would end up losing that battle 35-27, as CC totaled 67 shots in the game.
POSTGAME COMMENT
"Despite the score, this was a night and day difference from how we played Colorado College the first time," said CSU Pueblo Men's Lacrosse Head Coach
Sean Blair. "A lot of guys stepped up today and the big thing was us challenging ourselves as a program to see how tough we were. The reality is they have a large bench. Not that we want to be the ones that win the shouting match, but we want to win the energy level and I feel like today we came out and had the most energy we've had here in a long time."
"We had some good offensive production by a couple of our players, but across the board we just need more. A couple mistakes in the third were the catalyst for things to stem out and stem away from us and put us in a position to play a little bit more defense than we wanted to. Overall, I'm proud of how we competed and fought and we are excited to take our show on the road to Adams State on April 3."
