After a 10-year career as the first (and only) head coach of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse program at Colorado State University Pueblo, Sean Blair has transitioned into the new role of Coordinator of Student-Athlete Mental Performance & Well-Being.

Sean completed his undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Mich.) before moving to Colorado and completing his first master’s program in applied sport psychology at Adams State University (Alamosa, CO). Upon completion, Sean began working as an adjunct professor of sport & performance psychology in the School of Health Science and Human Movement at CSU Pueblo.

Sean is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. The CMPC designation is the “gold standard” of credentialing for sport and performance psychology. This credential demonstrates to the public an elevated proficiency, education, and willingness to uphold ethical standards as a sport and performance psychology provider. CMPC’s work with a variety of clients and organizations at the youth, collegiate, professional and Olympic levels.

Sean represents CSU Pueblo at the RMAC and NCAA level as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee. He is currently working towards competition of his second master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and doctorate in sport & performance psychology at the University of Western States (Portland, Ore.).

The 2016 season saw many milestones, including the first program win on March 21, against Emmanuel College (GA), as well as the first home win on April 1, against Notre Dame de Namur (CA). Several players also achieved post season awards under Blair’s tutelage including: one 1st Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player, two 2nd Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference players, and three Honorable Mention All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference players. Additionally, three players who earned 1st Team All-Academic Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference players.

During Blair's first season with the program, the ThunderWolves competed in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. The Pack will move into the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for the 2016 campaign.

Prior to coming to the Steel City, Blair served as the assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Hope College, which began its first season of lacrosse in 2013, helping the squad to an 8-5 record in its inaugural campaign, securing a berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament and ending the season with a fourth-place finish.

Before arriving at Hope, Blair was the defensive coordinator at Grand Valley, helping the team claim three consecutive Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association titles (2010, 2011, 2012) and make three Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association Tournament appearances (2010, 2011, 2012), including two Final Four appearances in 2011 and 2012 and National Championship game appearance in 2012.

While at Grand Valley State, Blair's defensive players received eight All-American awards, in addition to ten All-Conference awards. With Blair on staff, the team remained in the MCLA National top-ten rankings.

In all, Blair comes to CSU-Pueblo with five years of collegiate lacrosse coaching experience, helping his teams to a cumulative record of 72-16.  

Blair played lacrosse at Grand Valley State University from 2005-2008, earning a team captain title as a junior (2007).  In 2008, he helped lead the team to a 20-2 record, their first CCLA Conference Championship and first ever MCLA Tournament appearance and National Championship game. In 2008, he was the first Grand Valley State University player named to the MCLA Division II All-Tournament team as a Defensive Specialist.

Originally from Kalamazoo, Mich., Blair graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Group Social Studies. He and his family reside in Pueblo.
