PUEBLO, Colo. (February 21, 2021) - Colorado State University Pueblo softball swept its Sunday doubleheader, beating Bethany College 8-6 in game one and cruisiing past Adams State, 6-2 in the weekend finale.

Taylor Strupp (Jr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) tossed 4 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win against Bethany. Strupp scattered four hits and struck out four, guiding the Pack in the come-from-behind victory.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Oakleigh Kearby (Fr., Meridian, Idaho) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs with four strikeouts.

For the weekend, Gabby Moreno (Grad., Scottsdale, Ariz.) went 9-for-15 (.600 avg.) scoring seven runs and collecting eight RBIs. Moreno tallied five extra-base hits, finishing with a 1.200 slugging mark.

In game one against Bethany, the visitors took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third. The Pack responded with two runs in the home half of the third. Isabel Griego (Jr., Loveland, Colo.) and Moreno both manufactured runs for the Pack.

Bethany scored a run in the top of the fourth, taking a 4-2 lead. In the home half of the fourth, designated player Samantha Riesen (Grad., Independence, Calif.) hit the first pitch she saw, hitting a two-run homerun to straight away centerfield, tying the game at four apiece.

In the fifth, Strupp struck out two, quickly getting the Pack offense back in stride. Four players recorded RBIs, to take a four-run cushion.

Strupp and Co. allowed two more runs before shutting the door for the 8-6 victory.

In the weekend finale, Kearby allowed two runs and ten hits while striking out four.

Four Pack players recorded RBIs in the win.

Moreno led the way with two hits and an RBI.

Solid defense helped to keep Adams at bay, allowing Kearby to be effective in the circle.

Coach Koschke Comments:
"Our pitchers stepped up today and competed. The defense was solid behind them and helped give them more confidence to attack hitters. We have a big staff and we were able to utilize all of our pitchers this weekend." Koschke said. "A few of our freshman really stepped up and truly competed on the mound. That was big time."

"The offense really starting to get comfortable and patient at the plate. They were attacking their pitches and getting the timely hitting when we needed it. Overall, we competed and completed."
