ThunderWolves topped by Tigers in season opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 21, 2021) – Colorado State University Pueblo Men's Lacrosse dropped its season opener to Colorado College 18-3 Sunday at Washburn Field.
 
Coach Blair Quote:
" Solid second half effort," said CSU Pueblo Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Sean Blair. "CC is a veteran program who will have a solid year. Good experience for our team moving forward. Excellent job by our man down unit."
 
Individual Highlights:
Garrett Breeling (So., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) shut down the Tigers in the second half. Breeling made 12 saves on 16 shots for a .750 save percentage.  He set a school record for save percentage in a single-game with a minimum of five saves.
 
Trenton Steele (R-Fr., Littleton, Colo.) netted two of the Pack's three goals. This effort marks the first multi-goal performance of Steele's young career.
 
Ian Noonan (Jr., Wilmington, Del.) scored his first goal in a Pack uniform.
 
Connor Owen (R-Fr., Keller, Texas) picked up an assist. Kevin Gallagher (Fr., Castle Rock, Colo.) also earned his first assist with the Pack.
 
Michael DeMaio (Sr., Gambrills, Md.) picked up four ground balls. DeMaio led the Pack with two caused turnovers. Turner Dirk (R-Fr., Calgary Alberta, Canada) and Aaron Clark (R-Fr., Spring Branch, Texas), and Ethan Ferrie (So., Littleton, Colo.) all caused two turnovers as well.
 
Tavian Watson (Sr., Aurora, Colo.) matched DeMaio with a team-high four ground balls.
 
Game Recap:
The Tigers pounced on the Pack in the first half , scoring the game's first 13 goals. Steele got the Pack on the board with a goal 10 minutes into the second quarter.
 
The Pack only allowed four goals in the second half. Noonan and Steele each scored in the second half for the Pack.
 
Notes:
The Pack held the Tigers scoreless on six of the seven man-up opportunities.
