PUEBLO, Colo. (October 8, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team stayed unbeaten in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play after defeating Black Hills State 3-1 Friday in front of a large crowd at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

The Pack received scores from Cortney Cowles (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Amanda Garrett (R-Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Sina Kettler (Grad., Rosenheim, Germany).

CSU Pueblo got out to an early lead during the 7th minute when Cowles received a pass from Madison Jepperson (Sr., Cottonwood Heights, Utah) and finished for her first goal of the year.

During the 32nd minute, Garrett caught the Yellow Jacket defense asleep as she applied pressure against the BHSU goalkeeper and forced her to fumble the ball and Garrett gained possession and fired a shot past the diving attempt, gaining a 2-0 Pack lead.

At halftime, CSU Pueblo led 7-2 on shots and earned five corners against zero for BHSU.

Following intermission, the Pack allowed a goal in the 50th minute and as a result the play at midfield and on the defensive side stepped up and helped to prevent any further goals from the Yellow Jackets.

The Pack built a cushion to their lead in the 75th minute when Faith Meredith (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) served in a pass to Kettler who hit the ball into the lower third of the net for the two-goal advantage.

Sharing duties at the net, Pack starting goalkeeper Nicole Genis (So., San Jose, Costa Rica) played the entire first half and made one save in forty-five minutes of action.

In the second half, Breanna Encinas (Fr., Firestone, Colo.) was called on and gave up one goal and made one shot.
