PUEBLO, Colo. (October 10, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team finished a four-match homestand on Sunday, defeating MSU Denver 2-1 behind a pair of first half goals scored from
Faith Meredith (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) and a strong defensive output. The Pack ended their homestand with a 3-0-1 mark.
Meredith scored the first goal of the match in the 6th minute when
Litzy Serna (Sr., West Jordan, Utah) passed the ball out wide and Meredith was able to get past the defender and score her third goal of the year.
During the 21st minute, a similar play with the ThunderWolves driving the ball and
Sabrina Bridwell (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) dished a pass out to Meredith who then finished the play, giving the ThunderWolves a 2-0 lead.
Holding the two goal lead at halftime, CSU Pueblo outshot 4-3 shot lead and both teams recorded three corners.
In the second half, MSU Denver picked up the intensity and the ThunderWolves play at midfield and on the defensive end stepped up and shutdown the Roadrunner attack.
MSUD was able to score in the 67th minute. CSU Pueblo played stellar defense over the final twenty minutes and came away with the win.

Nicole Genis (So., San Jose, Costa Rica) made two saves against five shots from MSU Denver.
"I'm extremely proud of our intensity to start the game today, allowing us to create chances and pick up two early goals," said ThunderWolves Head Coach
Sierra Cardenas. "Our attack had a lot of energy and Faith was lethal today on the finish."
"Metro is a strong team and fought hard. They came out strong in the second half and put us under a lot of pressure. I'm proud of the defensive effort from our midfield and back line to hold them off and maintain the lead."
CSU Pueblo (6-4-1, 5-0-1 RMAC) has one game next week on the road Thursday at Regis. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Regis Match Pitch.
Cardenas added, "We are pleased with the momentum we've built the last few weeks, now our sights are set to prepare for Regis on Thursday."
