CHADRON, Neb. (October 30, 2021) – The Colorado State University Pueblo volleyball team finished their road trip with a three-set Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over Chadron State on Saturday evening.
With the regular season slowly coming to an end and the team coming off a devastating 3-0 loss to No. 12 Colorado Mines on Friday night, the ThunderWolves (16-6, 10-4 RMAC) came out firing on all cylinders in the first set.
The teams went back and forth for the first 15 points before the lethal serve from
Hannah Delor (Jr., Marysville, Mich.) sparked a 15-0 run for the Pack. The run was highlighted by four service aces from Delor and thirteen kills between four different ThunderWolves. The Pack went on to take the first set 25-13.
It was the defense turn to turn things up a notch for the ThunderWolves in the second set, holding the Eagles to a .029 hitting percentage while the offense registered 12 kills on a .379 hitting percentage. Middle blocker
Jazzy Espinoza (Jr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) recorded four of her six kills as the Pack never trailed in the 25-15 second set win.
The Eagles kept the game close on the third set, tying the game two times before tying it for a third time at 7-7 before another 8-0 run for the Pack gave the visiting team a commanding 15-7 advantage in the third. Three consecutive kills from
Payton Stack (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) closed out the sweep for the ThunderWolves as the team took the third set 25-18.
"It was bice to finish the road trip with a victory" stated head coach
Austin Albers. "We got some nice scoring from the serve line and stayed pretty low error on the defensive end".
The dominating right-side for the ThunderWolves spearheaded the attack as Stack led the way with 12 kills and a block while
Maddy Wisniewski (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) added 7 of her own. Delor recorded 5 serving aces, 4 in set one, and added 6 kills and 11 digs and continues to lead the RMAC in service aces with 47 on the season.
Elaine Thibadeau (Jr., Monument, Colo.) led the Pack defense with a game-high 15 digs while also adding 7 assists.
The ThunderWolves will be back in action next weekend as they close out their homo portion of the regular season on Friday against South Dakota Mines and Saturday against Black Hills State. Both games will begin at 7 pm at Massari Arena.
