Sanchis' two goals leads ThunderWolves past Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 17, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team got back in the win column after posting a 2-0 shutout win on the road, Sunday at Adams State. The Pack's Carlos Sanchis (Grad., Madrid, Spain) guided the Pack, scoring both goals in the match.

Sanchis scored his second and third goals of the season. The first goal came in the 9th minute and the next was during the 71st minute when the Pack was awarded a penalty kick that Sanchis converted and built the two goal lead.

In the match, CSU Pueblo totaled fourteen shots, tallying eight in the first half.

Five Pack players recorded two shots including Sanchis.

"It was great to see Carlos Sanchis making an impact in the box and getting a couple of goals, said CSU Pueblo Head Coach Oliver Twelvetrees.

CSU Pueblo earned four corners in the first half and six total in the match.

Pack goalkeeper Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) made one save against four shots from Adams State.

"Happy for the squad to get the result today. We had some good moments," Twelvetrees added.

With the win the ThunderWolves now sit at 10-4 overall and are back at .500 in conference play with a 3-3 record. The team's double-digit wins is a first for the Pack since the 2015 season.

The Pack return home for a big weekend of matches at home when they host Colorado School of Mines Friday and face off against Colorado Christian Sunday, both matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
