DURANGO, Colo. (October 14, 2021) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road at Fort Lewis College Thursday at FLC's Dirks Field.
CSU Pueblo allowed the lone goal of the match in the opening minute of play despite giving up only two shots in the first period.
"Frustrating afternoon. We worked hard, competed for every ball and showed desire all over the pitch," said Pack Head Coach
Oliver Twelvetrees. "Unfortunately (we) gave up a poor early goal and then just couldn't find the final ball to break down an organized and strong defense."
Carlos Sanchis (Grad., Madrid, Spain) and
Vinzent Zingel (So., Aachen, Germany) led all players with three shots and
Louis Kearns (So., Liverpool, England, UK) had both of his shots land on goal.
The ThunderWolves out shot the Skyhawks in both periods in a big effort to score the tying goal.
At the net,
Will Whitworth (Fr., Gloucester, England, UK) made the start and played twenty-seven minutes and made one save.
Garret Wild (Jr., Brownsville, Tex.) was called upon and played well in his sixty-four minutes of action, making one save.
CSU Pueblo recorded ten corner kicks, the second highest mark for the Pack this season. FLC tallied two corners.
Twelvetrees added, "We will regroup, stay together and keep fighting in our 5 remaining games starting on Sunday."
CSU Pueblo wrap up the week Sunday at Adams State, kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. in Alamosa.
