ThunderWolves host Davenport Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

PUEBLO, Colo. (Feb. 25, 2020) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's lacrosse team hosts Davenport University Wednesday in a nonconference game beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. 
 
THE PACK
 
The ThunderWolves are coming off a 13-7 loss against Franklin Pierce University Sunday in the home and season opener. Junior Emily Eller (A, Keller, Texas) scored three goals for the ThunderWolves, while senior Ali Doyle (A, Portland, Ore.) totaled two goals and one assist. Senior goalie Ane Marie Horton (Long Beach, Calif.) recorded 17 saves in the loss. 
 
The Ravens produced 30 shots on goal, while the Pack had 15. FPU won the circle with 14 draw controls to the home team's eight. Ground balls were close with Franklin Pierce picking up 24 and CSU-Pueblo recording 22. The ThunderWolves had two player-up goals and are tied for the conference lead in the category. 
 
CSU-Pueblo jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 1:40 into the contest and seven minutes into the 2020 season were leading 3-1. The Pack were only able to muster one more goal the rest of the half and trailed at the break 6-4. 
 
FPU scored the first two goals of the second half and would maintain at least a three goal lead the rest of the game. 
 
Freshman Nicole Caster (Beaverton, Ore.) scored her first collegiate goal, while sophomore Ashley Hendricks (Hood River, Ore.) came up from her defensive position to net a goal. Freshman Caira Lessick (Oregon City, Ore.) totaled four ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control in her collegiate debut. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Davenport is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is a NCAA Division II institution that plays in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. DU ranked third of six in the GLIAC Coaches' Poll. The Panthers have three games under their belts in this early season and are 2-1. Davenport defeated Quincy University 19-4 in a neutral site game before falling at No. 9 Lindenwood University, 19-4. Monday, the Panthers defeated University of Colorado Colorado Springs by the score of 16-8. 
 
Two players already have 10 goals for DU, as Ryann Deuel and Aaliyah Miller both have 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. Deuel leads the squad with 25 draw controls, while Miller has produced four of her 10 goals on free position shots. The team has controlled 50 draw controls, while their opponent only has 26. 
 
UP NEXT
 
The ThunderWolves have a little over a week off before traveling to No. 9 University of Indianapolis March 6 for a 5 p.m. MT meeting with the Greyhounds. The Pack then battle McKendree University March 8 at 10 a.m. MT in a neutral site meeting in Indianapolis.
