SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (February 21, 2020) - In their first game of the season, Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Lacrosse took a 23-6 loss at the hands of Westminster College Friday.
Trenton Steele (Fr., Littleton, Colo.) impressed in his Pack debut. Steele scored the first two goals of his Pack career.
Connor Owen (Fr., Keller, Texas) fired in a goal in his first game. Owen also added the Pack's lone assist of the afternoon.
Jacob Muir (So., Ogden, Utah) led the Pack with six ground balls. Muir won 11-of-23 draws. He also scored a goal.
Tommy Vassallo (Sr., Sarasota, Fla.) and
Skylar Weathers (So., Ogden, Utah) each also found the back of the net for the Pack. Freshman
Cornelius Healy (Keller, Texas) had a team-high two caused turnovers.
The Griffins scored the game's first five goals in less than five minutes. Steele scored the Pack's first goal of the season. Westminster countered with three more goals to take an 8-1 lead. Steele and Weathers each scored to trim Westminsters' advantage to 8-3.
The Griffins scored the only six goals of the second period. They would roll to a 23-6 win.
The ThunderWolves will look to even their record on the season and in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition Sunday when they face Colorado Mesa University. The opening faceoff between the Pack and Mavericks is set for 12 p.m. in Grand Junction, Colo.
