PUEBLO, Colo. (February 14, 2020) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team dropped a pair of nonconference games against St. Edward's and Oklahoma Baptist on the first day of the Edmond Regional Festival in Edmond, Okla.
CSU-Pueblo lost the weekend opener, 9-5 against St. Edward's. In the second game, OBU put up seven runs in the first two innings before closing out a 8-0 (5 inn.) victory.
On the day, senior outfielder
Sabrina Felix (Corona, Calif.) collected three hits, including a double.
Marissa Piatt (Jr., San Luis Obispo, Calif.) smacked two hits in the doubleheader.
Against SEU, the ThunderWolves went down 3-0 through three innings before tying the game in the home half of the third on a Felix single and defensive error, plated three runs, knotting the game at 3-3 after three complete.
The Pack took a two-run lead in the fifth after the duo of Felix and Piatt accounted for the two runs. Another defensive error from the Hilltoppers led to the second run in the frame.
St. Edward's erupted and put up six runs on four hits including a three-run homerun put SEU up by four runs.
The ThunderWolves scattered three hits over the final two innings, falling to St. Edward's for a second time in as many weeks, by a score of 9-5.
In the second game of the day against OBU, Felix and
Kaitlyn Glaze (Jr., Erie, Colo.) each recorded a hit in the effort.
The designated home team Bison scored seven runs in the first two innings on five hits. OBU plated the eighth run of the game in the fifth inning to come away with a 8-0 run-rule victory in five innings.
CSU-Pueblo (0-7) is back on the diamond Saturday and will face Oklahoma Christian at 9 a.m. and will play Northeastern State at 3 p.m. in the nightcap.
