Box Score 2 EDMOND, Okla. (February 15, 2020) - Colorado State University-Pueblo softball dropped a pair of nonconference games on day two of the Edmond Regional Festival. The Pack fell 10-2 in six innings in the first game of the day versus Oklahoma Christian and dropped a 13-7 decision in the second game against Northeastern State.
On the day, the ThunderWolves racked up 25 hits in the two games and were guided by
Sabrina Felix (Sr., Corona, Calif.) and
Marissa Piatt (Jr., San Luis Obispo, Calif.) who each went 5-for-8 at the plate.
Senior
Gabby Moreno (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was effective at the dish, going 4-for-8 at the plate in the two games.
Four total players recorded at least two hits.
In game one against OCU, an RBI-single from Piatt in the first inning and a sac flyout from Felix in the top of the fourth accounted for the Pack scoring.
Pack pitcher
Hannah Anderson (R-Sr., Spokane, Wash.) was tagged with the loss after she went 5 1/3 innings in the circle and allowed six runs on seven hits. She fanned four OCU batters.
In the second game of the day against Northeastern State used two big scoring frames to pull away.
Samantha Riesen (R-Sr., Independence, Calif.) showed out with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate to go with an RBI and a run scored.
Riesen was called on to pitch to start the third inning and lasted four innings and gave up four runs on three hits and four walks.
Natalie Montgomery (Jr., Chandler, Ariz.) took the loss after going 2.0 innings for the Pack. She gave up five runs on five hits in her outing.
CSU-Pueblo (0-9) wraps up the Edmond Regional Festival Sunday with a matchup against Lubbock Christian. It is the second time in as many weeks the Lady Chaparrals and the Pack will play.
