Pack celebrates Valentine’s weekend at home vs. UCCS & Mines

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 13, 2020) – After four games on the road, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball finally returns home for its last two-game weekend at Massari Arena this season. The Pack will play University of Colorado Colorado Springs Friday and Colorado School of Mines Saturday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.
 
Promotions:
Friday, CSU-Pueblo Athletics will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. All girls ages 17 and under will be admitted for free.

Saturday is CSU-Pueblo Alumni Night at Massari Arena. All CSU-Pueblo Alumni will receive a free general admission ticket and two additional general admission tickets. Both CSU-Pueblo Basketball teams will also celebrate their alumni by welcoming them back to the floor during a halftime. The women's team will have an alumni game at 1 p.m. Saturday, while the men have a game at 2 p.m. Both alumni contests are free and open to the public. 

Starting 5 – The Top 5 CSU-Pueblo storylines
1. The ThunderWolves will look to get back on track after an 0-4 road trip. The Pack won its last game at Massari Arena, 69-63 over Black Hills State University. CSU-Pueblo now owns a 5-17 record overall with a 4-13 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games.
 
2. CSU-Pueblo remains a force on the block. The ThunderWolves swat 5.2 shots per games, which leads the RMAC and ranks 11th in D-II. The Pack averages almost a block per game more than any other team in the RMAC. CSU-Pueblo has led the RMAC in blocks every year since 2015-16 and has been in the top five every year since 2013-14.

3. Sydni Williams (Jr., Little Rock, Ark.) caught fire on both sides of the court last week. Williams had a double-double in both games last weekend. She averaged 18.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game, including 4.0 rebounds per game on the offensive glass. Williams also made 52.0 percent from the field and 91.7 percent at the charity stripe this season. The junior has five double-doubles this season.

4. JaNaiya Davis (So., Hewitt, Texas) also had a double-double in the Pack's last game with 10 points and 10 rebounds at South Dakota School of Mines. Davis leads the Pack with 15.9 points per game this season. She also leads the RMAC with 4.6 assists per game. Davis averages 38.0 minutes per game, almost three minutes more than anyone else in the conference and ninth-most in D-II.

5. Williams leads the RMAC with 1.7 blocks per game. With 37 blocks on the season, Williams has more blocks by herself than four teams in the RMAC have accumulated all season as a team. Her 8.3 rebounds per game rank fourth in the RMAC.  She averages 11.8 points per game.

Scouting UCCS
2019-20 Record: 7-16 (6-11 RMAC)
Series History: The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Mountain Lions 38-21. UCCS defeated the Pack 75-56 in the first meeting between the two teams this season. Williams had 18 points and nine rebounds in that game.
Player to Watch: Ellie Moore stole the show in the first meeting between the two teams. Moore scored 22 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocks against the Pack, Feb. 1.
 
Scouting Colorado School of Mines:
2019-20 Record: 16-6 (13-4 RMAC)
Series History: The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Orediggers 37-21. Mines beat the Pack 68-47, Jan. 31. Davis scored 18 points in that meeting.  The Orediggers have won the last four meetings.
Player to Watch: Denali Pinto leads the RMAC with 20.2 points per game.  Pinto makes 90.7 percent from the charity stripe, also the best in the RMAC.
