PUEBLO, COLO. (December 8, 2020) – Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Basketball will finally open its 2020-21 season Wednesday when the ThunderWolves visit Adams State University at 3 p.m. The Pack will also play Steel & Silver trophy rival University of Colorado Colorado Springs Thursday December 10 at 5:30 p.m.
These two games will also start Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play for the Pack. The ThunderWolves will look to return to the RMAC playoffs after an 8-17 (7-15 RMAC) season a year ago.
1. The Pack has started RMAC play strong. The ThunderWolves have won each of their last 12 RMAC openers. Each of the Pack's last nine RMAC openers have been double digit victories. Six of these 12 wins have come against the Grizzlies. The Pack has won these 12 consecutive RMAC openers by an average of 16.33 points per game.
2. It will be a new look team for the Pack as eight newcomers have joined CSU Pueblo Women's Basketball. Two of these newcomers are D-I transfers
Jazzy Hughes (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) and
Aubriana Noti (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.). The ThunderWolves also welcome sophomore sharshooters
Andrea Nelson (Pueblo, Colo.) and
Jalen Long (Moreno Valley, Calif.). Long is the sister of Taylor Long who helped the Pack win back-to-back RMAC titles. Junior transfers
Morgan Dial (Denver City, Texas),
Amaya Lewis (Hobbs, N.M.) and sophomore transfer
Ellie Till (Canon City, Colo.) are all expected to make an impact for the Pack.
Jadyn Ross (Aurora, Colo.) is the Pack's lone freshman. Ross earned All-Colorado 5A honors at Eaglecrest High School. The Pack also returns
Danielle Craft (Jr., Sacramento, Calif.) and
Aubrey Robinson (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.), both of whom redshirted a year ago.

JaNaiya Davis (Jr., Waco, Texas) will look to build off of dominating 2019-20 season. Davis finished her sophomore campaign with the fifth highest assist total (136) and 10th highest scoring average (16.2) in program history. She ranked in the RMAC's top 10 in points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage and free throw percentage, while leading the league in minutes played and assists per game.

Sydni Williams (Sr., Little Rock, Ark. led the RMAC with 1.6 blocks per game last year. She ranks eighth in school history with 1.2 bpg in her career. Her 43 blocks last season ranks as the 10th most in program history. The Pack led the RMAC with 5.3 blocks per game last season. They have topped the RMAC in swats in each of the last four seasons.
5. Davis ranked fourth in D-II last year in minutes played. She was on the court for an average of 38.53 minutes per game. She also ranked 16th in D-II in assists per game. Her 5.2 assists per game last year were the fourth-highest single-season average in school history.
Scouting Adams State:
2019-20 record: 4-24 (4-18 RMAC), 15th in the RMAC
Series History: The ThunderWolves have dominated the series history with Adams State. CSU Pueblo has won each of the last 16 meetings against the Grizzlies including a 64-50 win a year ago. Thirteen of the Pack's 16 wins during this streak have been by double digits. The Pack has not lost to the Grizzlies since 2011. They lead the all-time series history with Adams State 57-27.
Player to Watch: Much like the Pack, the Grizzlies have a lot of newcomers on their roster. One of them is D-I bounce back Kaitlyn Bell who transferred from Idaho State University. Standing 6-4, Bell could be a presence on the blocks.
Scouting UCCS:
2019-20 record: 11-17 (10-12 RMAC), tied for 10th in the RMAC
Series History: The Pack leads the all-time series against the Mountain Lions 40-21. The two teams split the two meetings last year, with UCCS winning at home. Davis drained a buzzer beater to give the Pack a 59-56 victory on home court last season. CSU Pueblo is 11-9 in its last 20 meetings with the Mountain Lions.
Player to Watch: Abby Feickert was the only Mountain Lion to average double digit points per game in 2019-20. She scored 10.4 points per game last season. The Pack held her to just four points in the second meeting on Valentine's Day.
